DDRS (Dynamic Data Rate Selection)
DDRS enables dynamic adjustment of the data rate for transmission of wireless traffic. This feature is especially crucial in point-to-multipoint networks when different Clients can support various data rates because of the differing distances from the BSU. With DDRS, WORP® dynamically optimizes the wireless data rate to each Client independently, keeping the overall net throughput at the highest possible level.
Flexible Channel Size Support
Flexible channel bandwidths, typically 20, 40, and 80 MHz, maximize performance based on the available spectrum. Support for smaller channel sizes, 5 and 10 MHz, is available on specific products.
Flexible Center Frequency
Provides the ability to set the operating channel center frequency in 1 MHz steps to ensure the radio link uses the cleanest spectrum available.
Satellite Density
The Satellite Density setting helps to achieve maximum bandwidth in a wireless network. It adjusts the receiver sensitivity of the radio interface and improves operation in environments with high noise levels. Reducing the sensitivity of the device enables unwanted “noise” to be filtered out.
ACS
(Automatic Channel Selection)
An indispensable installation tool, the automatic channel selection feature works during network boot, allowing Proxim’s radios to select the best channel with the least inference.
DCS
(Dynamic Channel Selection)
This feature continuously monitors the packet retry percentage in a given radio link. If retries exceed a set threshold, it dynamically searches for a new channel with less interference.
ATPC
(Adaptive Transmit Power Control)
ATPC enables dynamic adjustment to transmit power for each SU to achieve the desired link signal-to-noise ratio without spilling additional power or interference into the environment. ATPC is also used to ensure that the radio accurately follows local Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) rules.
SRO
(Short Range Optimization)
When establishing a concise range link of less than 50 meters / 150 feet the radio output power can overload the remote end receiver and render the link unstable or even non-operative SRO supplement ATPC feature to Optimized Performance For EDGE Shorter Links
HARQ
(Hybrid Automatic Retransmission Request)
ARQ (Automatic Retransmission Request) examines packets at the PHY layer and requests a resend of any damaged packets.
Proxim radios use a patented Hybrid ARQ (HARQ) implementation, which employs link layer Forward Error Correction for over-the-air (OTA) packet buffering. Proxim HARQ uses an optimized algorithm that ensures only bad or dropped packets are retransmitted. This improves duty cycle utilization and avoids additional delay or latency typically seen in standard ARQ processes. With Hybrid ARQ, retransmission only occurs with data packets, not latency-sensitive traffic such as voice or video.
WSM
(Weak Subscriber Mitigation)
WSM applies a “Minimum SNR Offset” filter that ensures subscribers can associate with the base station only when the SNR level is above a minimum threshold. Base stations will back off from polling weak subscribers to minimize retransmissions that would impact the overall performance of the multipoint sector.
Spectrum Analyzer
Proxim Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint products include a built-in Spectrum Analyzer that displays a real-time graphical portrayal of all radiation or RF Interference conditions in the available band to allow for the manual selection of the best channel for link operation.
